She graduated in Psychology from the Pontifical University of Comillas where she acquired a solid theoretical-practical training. Next, she completed a “Master in Health Psychology and Clinical Practice” at the same college. Wanting to expand her knowledge in Acceptance and Commitment therapy, she completed the “Master in Contextual Therapies” at the ACT Institute. Throughout these years, her passion for helping people led her to want to continue training in various areas such as couples therapy (The Gottman Institute); crisis intervention (Higher Specialization Course in Crisis Intervention, Telephone of Hope); difficulties with food (Anorexia and Bulimia Course: Diagnosis, Evaluation, Treatment and Prevention, Esquerdo Foundation); trauma (EMDR Therapist, Spanish EMDR Institute); autism (Training Course on Autism, ADOS- 2, INFORTEA Association); and child neuropsychology (XVI Edition of the Child Neuropsychology Course, Official College of Psychologists).
Itxaso has been working as a clinical psychologist for over 12 years, and throughout her career, she has worked with patients of all ages and cultural backgrounds, giving her a unique perspective and the ability to tailor her approach to each individual’s needs. Itxaso addresses a wide range of emotional, social and behavioural problems, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relational conflicts, fears, phobias and enuresis, among others.
Furthermore, for eight years, Itxaso worked via Sinews, at King’s College School (Soto de Viñuelas, Madrid) as their primary psychologist. During this time, she had the opportunity to conduct psychoeducational assessments to prevent and diagnose academic difficulties; implement psychological and psychoeducational intervention programs for preventive and therapeutic purposes; provide training and guidance courses for teachers, parents and students.
In addition to her clinical practice, Itxaso taught at UNINPSI, where she supervised undergraduate and Master’s degree students in clinical psychology at the Pontifical University of Comillas, Madrid, for two years. Furthermore, for three years Itxaso supervised practicum and Master´s thesis projects for students at the European University of Madrid. She has also recently taught psychology courses to American students participating in study abroad programs, also in Madrid.
Itxaso approaches her work with unwavering professional devotion, a profound eagerness to help, and an innate skill in personalizing each intervention, all with the clear objective of positively influencing the lives of those she engages with.
