Becoming a parent: Understanding the emotional challenges no one talks about
When we find out we’re expecting a baby, a lot of emphasis is quickly put on how to prepare for birth or the lack of sleep, but unfortunately, there’s little to no support around the emotional issues that can be encountered during this chapter.
We're warned about the signs of postpartum depression, but not provided with guidance on what triggers can lead us there and how to address them early on.
We’re here to help you gain knowledge and guidance during this meaningful but challenging time.
This webinar will walk you through the journey of parenthood, helping you understand the emotional challenges that no one talks about, to know what to expect and how to cope.
Whether you’re pregnant and wanting to prepare for what’s to come, or currently going through postpartum and wanting to make sense of what’s happening, this informative webinar will give you an overview of the psychological factors that take place during this time.
Topics that will be covered include:
- TThe emotional challenges during pregnancy and birth
- New baby, new parent: facing our deepest vulnerabilities

About Miriam Mower
Miriam is a clinical psychologist, mum of three, who helps many international families through the experience of raising a family abroad, away from their social network.
After experiencing first-hand the challenges that arise when becoming a parent, Miriam deepened her studies in perinatal psychotherapy as well as on updated research on parenting.
This encouraged Miriam to want to help parents during this vulnerable period of time, where it’s common to go through an identity loss, as well as feelings of anxiety, guilt and loneliness, amongst others.
Miriam strongly believes that by addressing these topics early on, parents will have a deeper understanding of what they are going through, what to expect, and what they can do, making the parenting journey a more compassionate one, and more aligned with the parent they want to be, instead of led by self-doubt.
